Over on Odysseys With Love, I wrote about planning my sewing adventure. I have done a little more research since then, and I think I am going to change the direction of the machine I plan on using. I wrote about patterns that I want to use from Mood Fabrics here the other day, but I wanted you to also know about planning and my research here also.
Let’s start the planning my sewing adventure with the fact that I don’t yet own a machine. I have been wanting one for a little while now and in the past I have owned two now. Both of them very beginner machine and only a few stitch designs. But why am I wanting a sewing machine?
Planning My Sewing Adventure
Why Do I Want A Sewing Machine?
Skyler, my oldest daughter begins high school next year. I know that for the next four years she will need a homecoming dress. Back when I was in high school the dresses were fairly expensive, but I had a job to help pay for it. I am not requiring Skyler to have a job during high school since she is so dedicated to band and art. I want her to concentrate on that and keep growing the way she is.
So I want to make dresses. I want to start sewing now instead of next year since I want to be able to make her something beautiful. I also want to be able to share this journey with you. Now why am I looking at a combo machine?
Why Choose A Sewing and Embroidery Machine?
Not only do I want to make dresses, but I want to be able to embellish them in some way. Embroidery and making my own designs seems like something that I really could get into. I love lace, and lace look, and I know Skyler would also. To be able to embroider her dress and lots of other things could be a lot of fun for us.
Embroidery is something that helps personalize a lot of things. So instead of purchasing several different machines, I want to make it a combo so I am not spending a lot of money on something that may not stick around. I doubt that is going to happen because I am going to be making a lot of personalize projects.
My Sewing Adventure... Picking the Machine.
I have looked at several different machines. The ones listed below are all of the ones I have looked into purchasing.
I have started to consider these three machines, but I ran into a different machine and started to do some research on the brand and machine. I am highly concidering the machine to learn on as it has both the sewing and embroidery features I want, plus the fact that it connects via wifi to your tablet.
With everyone out there that sews and embroiders, do you have a suggestion on the machine I should purchase? I would love to hear from you!
